Family Partnership
Family Partnership donations are monetary contributions that support local troops and programs and services provided by GSHVC. Each year friends and family members help girls grow strong by making a gift to Family Partnership. Here are just a few reasons why Family Partnership is important:
- 25% of your Family Partnership gift goes directly to Troops for programs, trips, service projects and more.
- Family Partnership gifts support outdoor camp experiences, computer and science enrichment, mentoring, and ensure that every girl in our jurisdiction, regardless of finances or family circumstances, can participate.
- Family Partnership gifts have immediate impact. They are applied directly to new and ongoing programs within the fiscal year they are received without the incurred expense of product sales. So more of your money supports innovative and outstanding programs.
Two Ways for Families to Donate
Everyone’s participation is important. Based on input families can now donate two ways:
- Simply complete the bottom portion of the registration form. Families can cut one check for registration and a donation.
OR
- For a more discrete way of donating, Family Partnership forms and envelopes are found inside the Family Information book distributed at the parent meeting.
- Both options are turned in to the Troop Leader.
When the forms are completed, Troop Leaders turn in the Family Partnership envelopes and registration forms to the Service Unit Registrar. Don’t know who he or she is? Then contact your Troop Services Director for further instructions.
Remember, the quicker you turn in the registration forms and Family Partnership envelopes the quicker GSHVC can process a rebate check to the Troop. Family Partnership is accepted at any time, so as new girls continue to register, please encourage parents to donate to Family Partnership. You will still continue to receive 25% on additional Family Partnership donations no matter when it is turned in.

Matching Gift Program
Double the impact of your gift to Girl Scouts of the Huron Valley Council!
For over 50 years, matching gift programs have served as an excellent source of revenue for nonprofit organizations, universities and other charities. Matching gift programs offer you the opportunity to direct your employer’s philanthropic revenue to Girl Scouts of the Huron Valley Council. Ask your human resources department if they participate.
How Does A Matching Gift Program Work?
Gift matching procedures vary greatly. The following is a typical example.
- Get a matching gift form from your employer, usually the human resources department.
- Complete the form and then your employer will send it to Girl Scouts of the Huron Valley Council.
- Girl Scouts of the Huron Valley Council will certify that a donation was received from you and that the gift meets the guidelines for receiving a matching gift.
- The form is mailed back to your employer.
- Your employer then sends a check to GSHVC.
Your donation to Girl Scouts of the Huron Valley Council is now worth double the amount of your original gift!

Corporate Gifts
Many corporations and foundations have provided grants to Girl Scouts of the Huron Valley Council to develop innovative programs and to fund their extension to girls throughout the Council. As the premier organization serving girls between the ages of 5 and 17, we welcome such financial support. Corporations wishing to explore grant-making opportunities should contact the Fund Development Department.

Printer Cartridge and Cell Phone Recycling
Did you know
… more than 240 million Americans have a cell phone?
… Americans buy a new cell phone every 9-18 months?
… one cell phone, thrown away, can pollute 40,000 gallons of ground water?
… recycled cell phones and ink jet and toner cartridges will raise money for Camp Linden construction?
This year, GSHVC is once again encouraging troops to care for the environment by collecting old cell phones and ink jet and toner cartridges. Because of the recent rate increases by the U.S. Postal Service, pre-paid recycling envelopes will no longer be used. Instead, troop leaders will receive cardboard cartons – one for phones, one for ink jet cartridges and one for toner cartridges – from The Wireless Alliance (TWA). When the boxes a full, troop leaders will simply seal the box edges with shipping tape and call FedEx Ground for a pick up. (The cartons already have pre-paid shipping labels attached.)
Girl Scout supporters who would like to receive materials can log on to www.thewirelessalliance.com or call 1-866-366-5791. For additional information, contact Char Luttrell at Council Headquarters, 971-8800, Ext. 211, or cluttrell@gshvc.org.

Camperships
Give every girl the chance to experience camp!
“I learned leadership, organization, water-skiing, make my bed, keep my stuff clean, to keep in touch with my friends, respect and how to handle pressure.” — Isabel, camper, age 13
What an amazing list! It includes such a wealth of new abilities - self-esteem, thinking skills, physical strength, social grace and positive values. These are all ways we encourage girls to develop and grow – and they all come directly from camp experiences.
Last year, Huron Valley provided $21,000 in camp scholarships. With more than 1,000 girls participating in outdoor programs, we need your financial support to offer camp sessions to girls whose families cannot afford the entire fee.
Here is a breakdown of what your gift will do:
- $1400 will enable five girls to attend overnight camp at Camp Linden
- $750 will send five girls to day camp
- $460 will give one girl a weeklong Whitewater Adventure
- $280 will provide a girl with a week at Camp Linden
- $150 will offer a girl a three-day mini-session (three days/two nights)
- $60 will add horseback riding to a girl’s day camp experience
Thousands of girls can’t be wrong – they love Girl Scout summer camp and can’t wait to come back year after year! Your support for camperships provides girls with experiences that stay with them for a lifetime.
For more about how you can provide camperships and give the gift of camp to every girl, contact Lisa Raycraft @ lraycraft@gshvc.org. OR, click here for Campership Donation form.
